Giuseppe Gavazza

Giuseppe Gavazza (Novara, 1957) lives and works in Turin. He graduated at the University of Turin and received a diploma in composition at the Milan Conservatory with Azio Corghi, and in electronic music. He has worked with the C.S.C. at Padua University, and the L.I.M. at Milan University. With a grant of De Sono, Turin he works with the Experimental Studio SWF Freiburg and at IRCAM, Paris. From 1998 he is composer in residence at ACROE, Grenoble. He was artist in residence at La Napoule Art Foundation (2000, 2003), Kulturhuset-USF, Bergen Norway (2002, 2005), Black Mountain College, NC, USA (2002, 2005, 2008). His compositions were selected for international competitions: Irino Tokyo, Bucchi Roma, Ensemblia Mönchengladbach, Briccialdi Terni. His music is performed, by important musicians, recorded and broadcasted in Italy and abroad recorded on CD (Datum, 2E2M, DDT, Happy New Ears, Nuova Era) and edited by BMG Ariola Ricordi and Edipan. Actually develop different projects in collaboration with: choreographers, sculptors and painters, architects, videoartists, theatre and film directors, writers. Giuseppe Gavazza contributed to music reviews and was involved in the research on new technologies and arts and promotion of contemporary music with Compositori Associati. Antidogma Musica, Camerata Casella, Biennale dei Giovani Artisti dell'Europa e del Mediterraneo Torino. He collaborates with Luciano Berio and, following a long collaboration with Sergio Liberovici, he was concerned with music teaching methods and musical theatre for children. He is professor of Elementi di composizione at the Cuneo Music Conservatory.
